Saudade is a traditional blue-water yet high performance mega yacht, developed from the hull lines of the breakthrough Wally 143 Esense. The medium-light displacement (150 tons 308,647 lbs) combined with the lifting keel (from 4.20 to 6.20 meters - 13ft 1in to 19ft 8in) produces a fast yacht with large volumes and full equipment for extensive round the world cruising.
The sail plan includes the 110 per cent jib trimmed through Magic Trims. The carbon furling boom simplifies the handling of the big mainsail. The 59.5-meter (196-foot) mast is built with high modulus MS40 unidirectional pre-preg carbon fibre, it carries four sets of carbon spreaders and weights less than 5 tons. The rig features titanium turnbuckles and the halyard blocks are carried by the mast. The rigging is in PBO.
The simplified sail handling includes the push button trimming system using hydraulic rams. The mainsail is trimmed through two Magic Trims, one under the starboard coaming and one in the foredeck lazzarette, plus a third one for high-load trimming. The jib is trimmed through one Magic Trim for each tack. All the Magic Trims are controlled by proportional joy-sticks giving the possibility to choose any speed to trim or release.
